Mary Wellesley

Mary read English Literature at Lincoln College, Oxford before moving to UCL for her Master’s and subsequently Doctoral degree. Her PhD research focuses on the manuscripts of the ‘Life of Our Lady’ by the fifteenth century poet, John Lydgate.

She has published academic articles on medieval literature and codicology and non-academic articles on a variety of subjects including manuscript forgery, the medieval antecedent of the hashtag and on why Valentine’s day is the fault of Geoffrey Chaucer.

She is working on a book about the manuscripts that shaped British history.
