
Hugh Thomson is an expert on South America and author of COCHINEAL RED: TRAVELS THROUGH ANCIENT PERU (2006), published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson. Hugh's previous books include THE WHITE ROCK: AN EXPLORATION OF THE INCA HEARTLAND (Weidenfeld and Nicolson) and NANDA DEVI: A JOURNEY TO THE LAST SANCTUARY (Weidenfeld and Nicolson), recounting a journey to a usually inaccessible part of the Himalayas. He has led many research expeditions to Peru. TEQUILA OIL was published by Orion in February 2009 and 50 MAN MADE WONDERS OF THE WORLD was published by Quercus in September 2009.
THE GREEN ROAD INTO THE TREES was published by Random House in June 2012.
ONE MAN AND A MULE: Across England with a Pack Mule was published by Random House in 2017.
Hugh is also a film-maker and has won many awards for his documentaries, which include ‘Indian Journeys’ with William Dalrymple, and ‘Dancing in the Street: A Rock and Roll History.’
