
Dr Prashant Kidambi is a historian based in the Centre for Urban History, University of Leicester. After completing postgraduate degrees in history at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to pursue a doctorate at the University of Oxford. Kidambi’s research explores how modern South Asia was shaped by empire and nation.
He has written extensively on Indian cities, public culture, politics and sport. He is the author of CRICKET COUNTRY: An Indian Odyssey in the Age of Empire (2019) and the lead editor of BOMBAY BEFORE MUMBAY: Essays in Honour of Jim Masselos (2019).
